How amazing is it to make your own nut milk? It is so super easy to make and tastes so much better than the store bought version. I am pretty sure once you have tasted the homemade almond milk version, you will not go back to the much more expensive, store bought milk, so give this vegan basics recipe a try.
Almond Nut Milk for Babies?
We gave our daughter almond milk since she was six month old and I did not have enough milk to breast feed her anymore. When she turned 10 mont old, we started giving her cashew milk too and now we still switch between both of them. Her blood test results showed that she is at perfect health and our doctor, who always supported our vegan diet, was all smiles.
What I love about homemade nut milk is, you can add all kinds of flavors to it. Cinnamon, vanilla, dates..
There are endless options and I love them all. My favorite is almond milk with 2 dates and 1/2 tsp vanilla bean paste
- 120g almonds, soaked in water for at least 4 hours
750ml filtered water
1 nutbag or baby cloth
optional 2 dates
- Step 1 Dry and rinse almonds after they have been soaked for a while. Make sure you remove the peels before adding them to the blender
- Step 2
Put them together with the water (and optional dates) into a high speed blender and blend for 1-2 minutes on high speed and hold the lid (you will figure out why)
- Step 3
Strain the mylk through a cloth or nutbag by slowly squeezing the bag
- Step 4
Pour milk in a glass with a tight-fitting seal and keep up to 5-6 days in the fridge
